BBSS CHOIR
I have no doubt talked about this topic for quite a few times on the blog, in which I discussed my commitment and feelings towards my previous choir, my secondary school choir. But it appears that there are still some loose ends. What happened today, and what Winnie said today kinda struck me, and reminded me that perhaps I have stepped over the lines, or whatever not boundaries that exist between me and the choir.
As an alumni, perhaps it's true that my role it's not too teach, but to guide. And all these while as I try to teach them with whatever I learnt from AJChoir, perhaps I have been kind of harsh, too pushy and stuff. However, I do not really see myself as a senior or as an alumni when I'm teaching them. When I'm conducting, standing infront of them, I see myself as just another conductor, a fairly capable adult teaching them. If they should really hate me because of me being too pushy and harsh on them, I do not mind for as long as they improve. But if it results in them feeling lousy, and losing the choir spirit maybe it's not worth it. Confusing! I really want the best for the choir. Should I persist on with what I believe to be correct? Tentatively, I only have 2 Mondays left with them, would it be alright to bet everything on these two practices? To really push them as hard as possible with the remaining time that I still have to hopefully help them learn the basics of what it means to become better and hence become a better choir?
VOICE LESSON 2
Second voice lesson with Shaun Lee wasn't too bad! It seems that I have indeed improve somewhat since the first voice lesson, and I'm actually moving into doing tenor arias! Boy am I proud of myself and glad! SO yea, I'm doing.. Dolente immagine di Fille mia by Bellini, and Caro Mio Ben by Giordani. Both are what Shaun calls arias for starters, nothing too difficult, but are very popular arias that are sung by most, if not all, Tenors in Singapore in particular.
Ahhh... I would continue but I'm just not really in the mood anymore... Lost the feel to talk about a certain someone... Oh well. So yea, that's for today! Ja-
